Make a mascot from a picture

Site Mascot 2.2 and later Updated October 14, 2026

  1. Click New mascot and drop in a photo or drawing of the character. Standing and facing you works best.
  2. The Studio cuts the character out of its background and reads its colours. Move the sliders if bits of background remain, and use the Erase and Restore brushes to touch up.
  3. Choose how it is made:
    • 3D character: pick a body type, then outfit, hat, glasses and colours. The colours come from your picture, and you can click any found colour to use it anywhere. It turns, walks, waves, dances, flies and talks in real 3D.
    • Picture: the cut-out itself is animated. It looks exactly like your picture but is flat. Drag the head line slider to the neck.
  4. Optional: with an Anthropic key under Settings → AI, press Let AI look at the picture. It picks the body type, outfit, hat, glasses and colours for you. This is one API call; the plugin stores nothing from it. The key is only needed for this button.
  5. Give it a name and say what it is, then press Save and use on my site.

Good to know

  • Pictures you save are added to the media library (named “Site Mascot – …”) and removed when you delete the mascot or uninstall the plugin.
  • 3D mascots also save a small still picture, shown instead if a visitor’s browser cannot do 3D.
  • Only administrators can use the Studio. Your browser processes the picture, and only the finished cut-out (PNG or WebP, up to 2 MB) is uploaded.
