Install and first steps

Install

1. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the Site Mascot zip and click Install Now.
2. Click Activate. The mascot appears on your site straight away, and the plugin starts scanning your content in the background.

Site Mascot needs WordPress 6.3 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.

Check what it learned

Open Site Mascot → Settings. The top of the page shows What the mascot knows about this site. Press Rescan after you add a lot of content. The scan also repeats by itself when content, menus or the site title change, and once a day.

Try it

1. Visit your home page in a private window so you see what visitors see.
2. Click the mascot and ask a question about your site.
3. Open Site Mascot → Q&A and add the answers you most want visitors to get. See Write your own Q&A.
4. Optional: choose a different character in Mascot Studio and switch on Visitor Details.
